Objet . . .
Objet . . . is a series satirizing the objectification of women. When a woman is placed in a pose and in an exotic location, as in an advertisement, she becomes an object as much as the product to be coveted by the viewer or the consumer.
The Woman and L’objet. Considered equally as objects of desire.
Advertising a product in an alluring or fantastical setting is a time tested technique for grabbing a viewer’s attention. Place an object like a trench coat, or a sports car, or a vacuum cleaner in an exotic locale and the imagination is set free. By satirically juxtaposing L’Woman and L’Objet in an open magazine format they are both advertised as equally desirable.
Beginning in 2019 this series was first staged in straight forward satire, moved into the realm of the absurd, and then into being just plain silly. A moment to laugh, and a reason to express an appropriate degree of exasperation at something that is still so culturally accepted.
Being in the medium of photomontage, the multiple photographic images, captured in the Studio and on location, were then digitally rendered to create the illusion of pages in an open magazine.
